A spot of inspiration…
William 'Willie' Desatoff
Known for his smooooth, show-boating, style, Willie wasn't shy of strutting his moves on the dance floor. In a sphere of big egos and personalities, he confidently held his own. In addition to Maxie, Willie was one of the few original dancers who taught a (select) few of the revival dancers. Rather than simply pass on moves, Willie emphasised key balboa aesthetics and dynamics. Amongst his peers he was greatly admired, and a number of them acknowledge him as being a primary inspiration.
He was also clear that good slippy leather-soled shoes were a must. Something thin enough to allow you to feel the floor well.
